Craniosacral Therapy Massage

How can craniosacral therapy massage (C.S.T.M) help me?

Chances are you’ve heard of someone you know talking about this type of treatment. What even happens at this type of appointment? Based on the name, you can only assume cranium and sacral area, right? Is it still technically a massage? Are those areas that can be helped with this technique? So many questions.

C.S.T.M sessions are a series of holds that attempt to relieve tension from the head and back by gently manipulating the muscles of the skull, spinal cord and sacrum. By relieving the tension from these areas, some experience a noticeable and positive changes of symptoms from issues such as headaches, acute stress and pain. It may take multiple or ongoing sessions based on the specific reason for the treatment or when focusing on the C.S.T alone. The benefit of integrating massage techniques with these area specific holds can help achieve desired results faster and for longer. I have to admit, I’m a sucker for instant gratification. With that being said, that’s why I add other massage techniques into the mix to accelerate the recovery process.

Without getting into the subject, the nervous system plays many roles in the healing process by inducing feelings of relaxation at certain times. With this basic knowledge, your massage therapist can utilize this wonderful technique to enhance your massage experience. When we include this system by deactivating the “flight or fight” response, the body can actually decompress and allow access to the deeper set of muscles that exist in the body. Those muscles are probably just as stressed and fatigued as your brain was. I bet they’ll be so relieved when access is granted and the tension of many weeks or years is finally addressed.

 Let the revival begin,
Gabby
